From the premiership stars of the 1940s and 50s to the more recent giants of the game such as Kernahan and Koutoufides, the Carlton Football Club has produced some of the greatest names in the history of Australian football. This book is for the real fans—the Blue Believers—the supporters who have lived with and cherished the deeds of the legends such as John Nicholls, Alex Jesaulenko and Ron Barassi, but who also want a greater insight into other champions of Carlton such as Fred Davies, Jack Howell and Brent Crosswell. Over 150 rarely seen images of these Carlton greats will not fail to stir the emotions. Whether it is John Nicholls with blood streaming from his face or the elation of Kernahan after he kicked THAT goal in 1987, they all reflect the depth, power and magic of the Carlton story.

Miles Wilks has been a writer for the Carlton Football Club since 2001. His first article was on the 1970 Preliminary Final and he has since written feature articles in the official magazine of the club, Inside Carlton, and for the CFC website. Miles’ credits include feature articles on Wayne Harmes, Bernie Evans, Carlton’s greatest finals players and the 1983 Night Grand Final, but his greatest contribution to the Carlton story was his detailed book on the 1968 premiership team, Barassi’s Blues . His latest book, Champions of Carlton, was a more ambitious undertaking as it looks at the impact of a wide range of players dating from the 1930s to the 2000s.
