Tilly has been out in the ocean for quite some time. Now she is a teenager, and it is time to swim back to the reef to find the food she needs to grow. What sights will she see? What amazing creatures will she meet? And what adventures will she have on her journey? Will she find her home?
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, Rhonda graduated from the National Art School before relocating to various regional areas across New South Wales, where she taught Art at all levels. She and her husband now enjoy living by the coast in Gosford. Rhonda has studied drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and papermaking. She has participated in both solo and group exhibitions, showcasing her work in painting and printmaking, and has received awards in drawing, painting, and contemporary art. Her work has been exhibited at the Guangzhou International Art Fair in China, and she was invited to exhibit at the Florence International Biennale. She illustrated the children’s natural history book Have You Seen My Egg? for the National Library of Australia—a title later selected for Mandarin translation by the National Library of China. She also wrote and illustrated Tilly’s Reef Adventure, a story about the Great Barrier Reef. Tilly’s New Adventure is the sequel, following the little green turtle on her life journey as she grows and finds her home territory. This new book provided the opportunity to include wonderful creatures that didn’t appear in the first, while reinforcing the message of our shared responsibility to care for the environment.
* A good starting point for a discussion about the Great Barrier Reef and turtle conservation. * Highlights conservation and includes a facts page. * Features beautiful illustrations and lift-the-flaps. * The second book in the Tilly series, the first book of which was shortlisted for the Environment Award for Children’s.
