Wombats POO in Cubes? is one of the books in our wildlife series which follows the life of Winston the Wombat. Winston is a baby wombat who wonders why his poo is shaped like cubes! Follow Winston’s journey as he discovers why his poo is so different! Dr Audrey and Nurse Brie bring their vet knowledge of each species into the books. The series aims to educate and inspire children to nurture an interest and appreciation of our Australian wildlife.
Dr Audrey Shen (Author/Illustrator) is a small animal and wildlife veterinarian.
She has been working as a Veterinarian in Australia for over 18 years.
Audrey has featured on the Australian TV kid’s show “Get Clever” and is one
of the Veterinarians featured on the popular “Bondi Vet” TV series featured on
Channel 9, Nat Geo and multiple TV networks worldwide.
Dr Audrey is a huge wildlife advocate and between her mobile vet work, runs
a dedicated wildlife hospital near Canberra, treating kangaroos, wombats,
possums and many other Australian native animals. She was heavily involved
in the rescue and rehabilitation of many kangaroos during the devastating
2019-2020 Black Summer Bushfires across Australia, and assisted throughout
the flood disaster in QLD and NSW in 2022.
As much as Audrey loves small animals and wildlife, she has a big love for
education. She shares her passion for Veterinary Medicine with many kids,
teaching at her Future Vet Kids Camp, a school holiday program designed for
aspiring Veterinarians. The camp keeps her busy during the school holidays and
runs across 3 states in Australia. Animals and kids are a huge part of her life and
she hopes to share the love for her job through her children’s books series.
Briana Heinrich (Author) is a qualified, registered veterinary nurse and
practice manager. She has been working in the veterinary industry for over
8 years. At home, she has her fur-baby, Harley, an 8 year old Cavalier who
keeps her on her toes. In her spare time, besides spoiling her dog, Brie regularly
fosters rabbits and helps to find them a forever home.
For over 7 years she has worked at Aussie Mobile Vet in Sydney, performing
house calls and visits for all of her patients. Brie set up a Nursing Division
within the Aussie Mobile Vet group in 2019 and it is currently thriving with
multiple nurses working for her.
Brie has been working side by side with Dr Audrey for almost a decade.
Together they see a wide variety of animals, large and small. Brie also features
on the hit TV series Bondi Vet alongside Dr Audrey. They both share a deep love
and passion for all of their patients, especially their wildlife. During the 2020
bushfires Brie and Audrey, along with other team members, volunteered every
weekend during Covid-19 to manage, treat, rescue and eventually release all
of their burn/fire affected wildlife.
Since volunteering, Brie has developed a special bond and love for our native
Australian wildlife. Her work allows her to utilise her nursing skills, knowledge
and share her love for these beautiful animals with everyone.
