Christopher Gibbs (1938-2018) was an antique dealer, collector, tastemaker and socialite, credited with shaping the aesthetic of ‘haute bohemian’ style and whose many friends included Mick Jagger, John Paul Getty, Bruce Chatwin, William Burroughs and Cecil Beaton. Throughout his life he created extraordinarily beautiful houses and gardens in London, the English countryside and most famously, in Tangier. While he wrote prolifically for Vogue,World of Interiors, House & Garden,The Spectator and many other publications, he never wrote a book. Using his articles as a guide, this first book documents his life, his evolving taste, his houses, his gardens and his gift for friendship.
