In In the Footsteps of Marco Polo, Agnes Meadows masterfully traces the ancient Silk Road with poems that shimmer like the threads of the route itself, weaving together history, myth, and intimate human moments. With unparalleled lyricism, she offers readers more than just landscapes: bustling markets hum with the unspoken stories of traders and artisans, while the endless stretches of desert reveal their secrets in the patterns of shifting sands. Agnes captures the quiet resilience of civilisations long past with each poem offering a glimpse into the soul of the Silk Road, where cultures collide and coalesce, and where Agnes profound sensitivity brings even the smallest detail - a shared glance, a woven tapestry, the night sky - to vivid life. This collection is not just a journey of geography, but one through time, capturing the spirit of exploration and wonder in every line.
