In the third poetry collection by Sylvie Baumgartel, Christos Anesti takes beautifully rich textures of art, history, and mythology and melds them with raw images of pain, trauma and environmental devastation. Each page delivers a lush declaration: God is who we are. These poems journey into territories, typically uncomfortable, but laced in language that's not just accessible but also relatable. Winner of The 2025 X. J. Kennedy Poetry Prize Selected by Shane McCrae
