Lovingly illustrated with thirty original and inspired works by esteemed art director, graphic designer, and illustrator Hugh Syme, Our House brings to life the joyful emotions of Graham Nash's song "Our House." The book conjures the warm feelings we all share in our hearts about a loving and caring home. Appropriate for all ages, Our House is at once a beautifully illustrated children's book and a magical visual journey for readers of all ages, especially the millions of people around the world who embraced the song as their own. Our House also contains a newly recorded version by Graham Nash of the classic song "Our House," punctuating the book's images and allowing for timeless and fun sing-a-longs with the book.
Graham Nash, the legendary singer-songwriter, is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee - with Crosby, Stills, and Nash and with the Hollies. He was also inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame twice, as a solo artist and with CSN, and he is a Grammy Award winner. Nash's passionate voice continues to be heard in support of peace and social and environmental justice. The No Nukes/Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) concerts he organized in 1979 with Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, and John Hall remain seminal benefit events. In 2011, Nash was instrumental in bringing MUSE back to the forefront with a concert to benefit Japan disaster relief and groups promoting non-nuclear energy worldwide. Nash is also an internationally renowned photographer and visual artist. His work is collected in the book Eye to Eye: Photography by Graham Nash. Nash's work has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide.
NetGalley Review: 5 stars Last updated on 11 Jun 2021 "Graham Nash has given us wonderful music with his time in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. It is from this musical group that the iconic song Our House was derived. This lavishly illustrated and beautifully rendered book explores the lyrics visually. What a wonderful job Nash and his illustrator have done here!" -Jackie Taylor, Educator NetGalley Review: 4 stars Last updated on 12 Jun 2021 "My parents are big CSNY fans and loved this song. I picture this book as being something that can bring grandparents and grandchildren together for a little quality reading and music time they will both appreciate!" -Yvie Field, Educator at Sparks Academy NetGalley Review: 5 stars Last updated on 15 Jun 2021 "A charming, sweetly illustrated children's book featuring the lyrics of Graham Nash's song, OUR HOUSE. Perfect for those, like me, who would love to have a keepsake about the song they love so well, and who wish to share it with the children in their life. Enchanting! 5 of 5 Stars Pub Date 01 Jun 2021 #OurHouse #NetGalley Thanks to Graham Nash, Rowman & Littlefield, and NetGalley for the review copy. Opinions are mine." -Literary Redhead, Blogger NetGalley Review: 4 1/2 stars Last updated on 16 Jun 2021 "Graham Nash and Hugh Syne have taken Nash's 1971 hit with CSNY and made it into a beautiful children's book. Most of us are familiar with the melody and lyrics so you would probably find yourself singing along to the words; I know I certainly did. "The pictures are lovely with a lot of detail so that you can find yourself lost in them. I imagine they would be very stimulating for a young imagination. That is if you actually let a child have this book rather than keeping it for yourself. And, that's probably why I haven't rated it higher. Our House is a very, very pretty little book with the wonderful lyrics and, while I could see you having a sing-a-long with a child, it feels more like a present for the adult rather than the intended audience. "I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review." -Sascha Darlington, Reviewer at Sascha Darlington's Microcosm Explored "Marketed as a picture book, this wonderfully illustrated story behind the history of the iconic and 50-year-old song "Our House" is the surprise sleeper of the summer - and will touch deeply readers of all ages... That Hugh Syme captures in art the essence of the words is a masterwork. This is a book we needed today, and although the word is overused in marketing and beyond, it is, and will be, transformative." -Tom Mayer, Mountain Times Young picture book readers are treated to a simple exploration of what makes a house a home, from flowers in a vase and a warm fire to sleepy cats and love songs. Adults interested in a simple, lovely read that encourages both literacy and reflection on what makes a house a home will relish this story's colorful review of both in a production highly recommended for its simple message and lovely delivery. * Midwest Book Review *
