In these intimate & personal poems written o ver the past five years, Weissbort explores many aspects of daily life: memories, families, friendships & relationships. The poems are often like diary entries but work with the we ight & concision of epigram. '
Daniel Weissbort (b. 1935) is poet, translator and editor of the influential 'Modern Poetry in Translation'. His most recent collection of poems was 'Nietzsche's Attache Case' (1993); he has translated several modern Russian poets. He edited for Anvil the controversial anthology of post-war poets of Central and Eastern Europe, 'The Poetry of Survival' (1991).
'It's hard to imagine how anything could be more natural, relaxed and true to the writer's self, true to his secret, personal life, than Daniel Weissbort's poems' - Ted Hughes
