This work looks specifically at the positive effects of conflict in organizations. Ths contributors synthesize and analyze the accumulated evidence that conflict can enhance rather than hinder performance as well as identifying concrete techniques and strategies. Conflict is related to performance. The book, by bringing together various theoretical perspectives and empirical issues, is able to provide a general theoretical framework and a focus on thematic issues such as groupthink, minority dissent, negotiation process, third party intervention, work force diversity and more. The second half of the book also focuses on the performance enhancing effects of intergroup conflict, collective negotiation and diversity management, and applications and strategies to stimulate conflict in ways that enhance performance in groups and organizations.
